Hodan Residence
14.9 kW hybrid system
Overview
Hodan Residence:
A Fully Off Grid Solar System Built for Long Term Energy Independence
Hodan Residence was designed to operate independently from the grid using a high capacity solar and battery storage system.
DC SOLAR SOLUTIONS installed a 14.9 kWp solar PV system supported by 21.5 kWh of WECO lithium battery storage and a 12 kW Deye 3 phase hybrid inverter. The Deye inverter currently operates the residence as a fully off grid system, with no grid backup connected.
The System
14.9 kWp solar PV capacity
4 × WECO 5.375 kWh lithium batteries
21.5 kWh total battery storage
Approximately 20.4 kWh usable storage at 95% capacity
1 × Deye 12 kW 3 phase LV hybrid inverter
The Results:
The residence has experienced limited occupancy during the first 1 year and 7 months after installation. Despite this, the solar system has already generated and supplied 925 kWh of energy.
As occupancy increases, the system has significant capacity to serve the home's daily electricity demand while reducing reliance on conventional grid power.
Investment Outlook
Because the residence was not fully occupied during the initial operating period, energy consumption and financial savings have been lower than the system's potential.
With normal occupancy and continued solar generation, the project is expected to achieve payback by 2028.
The Hodan Residence project demonstrates how a properly engineered solar and battery system can provide reliable off grid power today while creating a long term energy asset for the homeowner.
